Voice of the Faithful

Voice of the Faithful (VOTF) is an organization of concerned Catholic laity formed in response to the revelations of abuse of children by clergy and the resulting cover-up by the heirarchy here in Boston and throughout the country.

Mission Statement:
To provide a prayerful voice, attentive to the Spirit, through which the Faithful can actively participate in the governance and guidance of the Catholic Church.

Goals:
  • Support those who have been abused.
  • Support the vast majority of priests who are faithfully living their ministry.
  • Shape structural change within the Church that will help ensure such abuse and cover-ups do not occur in the future.

The members of Lynn area "Voice of the Faithful" are concerned Catholics who love our church, but we also recognize that we have a responsibility to assist in its renewal so that our children and our children's children will be full participants in their faith community. We meet bi-weekly to pray, discuss what is happening at the main chapter, share ideas, study portions of the Vatican II documents referring to the responsiblities of the laity, and plan educational opportunities for the parish community.

"In the light of the Spirit, and in full accord with Church teaching, we can envision a renewed Church, with the laity fully involved, according to the gifts and talents the Spirit gives to each." (Massimini, Anthony T., Ph.D)

We invite you to join with us as we struggle to "Keep the faith, Change the church."

We are grateful to the Pastoral Staff for their continued support in all that we are trying to do.
